The Most Revd Justin Welby will spend a week assisting the Thanet Deanery in its community engagement, mission and evangelism from 25-31 March.

One of Archbishop Justin’s three priorities is the work of mission and evangelism – that every church and Christian is enabled to share their faith in Jesus with those they encounter. This mission week, organised by local churches across the Thanet area, aims to highlight the good work already being done by churches in sharing the good news of Jesus.

Archbishop Justin will spend Holy Week (the week leading up to Easter Day) visiting community projects, groups, schools, pubs and churches in Thanet, encouraging local Christians in sharing faith through worship, service and evangelism.

During his time in the deanery, Archbishop Justin will visit schools, youth and community groups as well as sharing in worship with different congregations. Members of the media may wish to attend:

  • Question Time: A chance to ask questions to the Archbishop on any topic, hosted by The Royal Victoria Pavilion (J.D. Wetherspoon in Ramsgate) on the evening of Tuesday 27 March.

  • Walk of Witness in Broadstairs: Friday 30 March, 10:30-11:30am, starting at Balmoral Gardens.

Any members of the media wishing to attend these events must contact Anna Drew (by email or on 07753454586) in advance.

The Archbishop will be joined in his visit by members of the , who will be staying in different parts of the deanery and participating in the events.
