This week, in a bid to support school staff, the Diocese of Canterbury is launching a series of Collective Worship videos to be used in schools across East Kent.
Promises of God: You are the peace in my troubled sea is the first in a weekly series of online acts of Collective Worship for pupils across the Diocese.
The Children, Schools and Young People team at ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½Ò•îl provide support and resources for all aspects of school life. Schools Officer Rebecca Swansbury leads the first act of worship. She said: "This is a response to a real need.
“We are fully aware of the pressure that headteachers and their staff are under during this global pandemic and that got us thinking, what more can we do to bless our teachers?
“We’ve created a complete act of worship that can be used in schools and, I have been told, has been a real benefit to newly qualified teachers as a training guide to help them prepare their own.”
Each week a new act of Collective Worship will be available online and resources available for staff and teachers to download.
Canterbury Diocesan ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½Ò•îl of Education Canon Quentin Roper said: “Collective Worship is the heartbeat of our schools. Every day it brings us together to learn, reflect and grow spirituality, regardless of faith.
“Going online to offer this resource every week takes a little pressure away from our teachers and has the excellent benefit of joining all our schools together. We’re all part of one family and this celebrates that!”
