Your church, your voice

First published on: 24th August 2021

The creation of a new Youth Council begins next month with an afternoon of discovery and discussion for young people across the diocese.

The gathering is going to be held on Saturday 12 September in Ashford and all those from school years eight to 13 are welcome to attend.

Children and Young People’s Ministry Adviser Ben Hatfield said: “We want to provide young people with a space to discuss, challenge and influence within the Diocese and then to amplify their voices so children and young people are legitimately heard.

“We want to amplify the voices of our younger members and learn together the best ways for us to shape that.

“Our ambition is to create a Youth Council full of people who are passionate about their faith and what we can do as a church. A space to challenge opinion, share your views, develop new skills and lead in their sphere of influence.”

The afternoon will run from 12.30pm to 5.30pm on Sunday 12 September at the Grosvenor Hall Kingswood Activity Centre, Ashford, TN25 4AJ, and lunch is included.

It is free to attend and for more information please contact Ben Hatfield (bhatfield@diocant.org) and to book places please contact Sarah Cabella (Sarah.cabella@rochester.anglican.org)
